A member of the public has e-mailed the Society regarding some interesting documents and photo albums from the late 1920s-1930. They chronicle young people from Bethnal Green who were taken for their holidays to – in language deemed acceptable at the time – a ‘Cripples Camp’ near Ashford, by a Sister Lottie. The Headley family seem to have had a connection with the camp. Locations mentioned in the documents include Charing Hill, Little Chart Forstal and the Log Cabin at High Barn.
Do you know anything about this or have memories of the holidays? Please contact our secretary Mrs. Pont: email@example.com (tel. 01233 820679).
